RAWCS Western Region covers Rotary Districts 9455 and 9465 across Western Australia.

RAWCS Western Region is active in many programs such as Donations In Kind (DIK), Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM) and Safe Water Saves Lives.  Most of the projects address areas of the Indian Ocean rim.

Find out how you can get involved.

Global Hands Charity started distributing glasses two years ago in Cambodia, and last year in Sri Lanka.

The glasses are collected from clubs before being graded, sorted, cleaned and repaired as necessary by inmates at the prisons. Not all can be used, obviously. Then a team of nurses, optometrists, and optometry students take them overseas for distribution. Everybody pays their own fares, insurances, etc.
Last year the RC Mt Lawley collected 3,600 pairs of spectacles so far.

The Rotary Club of Osborne Park recently completed its 25 containers for Cambodia of donated medical and hospital equipment.

There was an addition of 30 Wheelchair for Kids chairs that will be going to Siem Reap to an orphanage that specialises in children with disabilities.

There were many helpers and support from staff of Westpac to ensure the filling of the container in a timely manner.

A special thank you to Brian Savage from Shipair who has over a number of years given space for equipment and a container and hass been pivotal in providing the forklift and know how to have smooth transport of the containers.

Brian has now decided to retire and these facilities will no longer be available.

Here is a recent DIK container getting loaded with education and health equipment, bound for Timor Leste.  Funds for this were supplied by the Rotary Clubs of Scarborough and Ballajura-Malaga.  The container departed Fremantle on 16th April and should arrive in Timor Leste on 16th May.

A big ‘thank you’ to the staff at Global Heat Transfer for their assistance, along with Peter Hoo from the Rotary Club of Scarborough.
